Mao Asada and Nobunari Oda had a good start at NHK Trophy 2008

28 Nov

Mao Asada took the lead in NHK Trophy after finishing 1st after the short program held in Tokyo, Japan followed by her challenger Ashley Wagner of USA and Laura Lepisto of Finland.

Judging from the mark, it seemed that Mao had taken a full control of her nerve to complete her jumps (I haven’t seen her program, so pardon me if I’m wrong). Skating to the music Clair de Lune by Claude Debussy, she scored 64.64 which was better than her score during Trophee Eric Bompard held in Paris few weeks ago.

Nobunari Oda completed his short program for his first Grand Prix event with a success, surpassing Johnny Weir of USA and Yannick Pansero of France.

It was too bad he wasn’t eligible for Grand Prix Final, but he had a good start this season in Senior Internatinals by winning both of the Nebelhorn Trophy and Karl Schafer Memorial.

Will he be able to maintain his wining streak, or will Johnny Weir defy him the gold medal?

The competition continues this Sunday. Let’s wait, and witness the outcome ourselves…

(Am I being too dramatic now? XD)
