Rest in peace, Park Yong Ha.

30 Jun

I am having the shock of my life right now. When I saw a post in allkpop that said Actor Park Yong Ha Commit Suicide, I was like ‘bleh, allkpop really loves to shock people when it’s all but a gimmick.’

Noncommittally I just click on the post and my eyeballs nearly popped out from their respective socket. The first question that comes to my mind was WHY? FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, WHY?

I still remember him in Winter Sonata. The drama was the first drama of his that I watched, and instead of rooting for Bae Yong Joon’s character, I was rooting for him. Then came more dramas featuring him. I watched. I laughed, I smiled, I cried with his characters.

And I also remember how much I love his voice. I still remember wondering whose voice was it that tugged my heart every time I was watching All In. When I discovered it was him, I was pleasantly surprised. Happier when I heard his voice once again in Full House. And of course, in On Air.

But now, neither can I see him in a new project with Yoon Eun Hye nor can I heard him singing with that somewhat soothing husky voice.

I am asking over and over again why is he doing this… but I know the answer will remain with him forever. He was taking it all with him to his grave. Reading a report at dramabeans, I felt sorry for his family and close friends. Especially those he talked to just before the incident happen. Park Si Yeon, please be strong!

I think this post by Elizabeth Tai rang a bell. It’s sad that some people, celebrities or common folks suffered from depression and nobody around  had realised what was happening to them.

Suddenly I was reminded of late Lee Eon. It was extremely sad the fact that an accident took his life, but it would had been even more devastating if he commit suicide. Just like Choi Jin-shil, Choi Jin-young, Ahn Jae-hwan, Jang Ja-yeon and Kim Ji-hoo, to name a few.

Joining the list now was Park Yong-ha, and even though this is very heartbreaking… I felt regretful just thinking about him.

Rest in peace.

I Came in Search for a Flower…

25 May

One of my favourite saying is

Better late than never…

Finally watching this drama, suit that saying best. If I didn’t tune in to KBS World on that one fateful evening, I would be missing one of the greatest drama made in Korean history. [Am I overdoing it? Well. Dramatic = me.]

I am an official Cha Tae Hyun’s fan since I saw him in Speedy Scandal [anybody catched the movie? He’s cute and funny in there], although I had been watching his few dramas and movies, namely Prince’s First Love, My Sassy Girl, Lovers Concerto, My Girl and I etc.

But in this particular drama, I Came in Search for a Flower [Flowers for My Life in KBS World], he really did a great job in here. Not to forget the backbone of the drama, Kang Hye Jeong as Hana. I am not really a fan of hers after seeing her in Rules of Dating [errrr…], but she really is one of the greatest actress Korean cinema had produced!

Kang Hye Jeong as Hana had made me laugh, cringe, pissed and cried. She’s the only one actress that made me do that in one episode. Cha Tae Hyun as Dae Bak or Ho Sang made me fall in love with him, despite his shortcoming. He’s the type of guys you wanted to protect from the rest of the world.

The best thing about this drama was the strong and solid supporting cast. I had never seen a very good supporting cast since  Resurrection [anyone saw the Uhm tae-woong’s starrer? If not, you are missing out!] and Dal Ja’s Spring.Kim Ji Hoon was charming as Eun-tak [by the way, this is the first time I watch him in a drama] and Gong Hyun Joo as Nam-kyung is loveable, albeit a bit calmer and reasonable than her character in Wedding, Oh Su Ji [Jang Nara’s character’s friend].

Out of the norm, this drama deals with death in almost every episode, and the direct connection sometimes left me flustered. Dying is not exactly what I had in mind, but people die when God said it’s time. It might be a different journey of life altogether when you know you are dying, or you know someone you held dear in your heart will be leaving you. This is the main theme of the drama, and of course it dealt with love, friendship, loving your parents, relationship, all sort of things.

But the way how the director captures the scenes, how the script was written, it can only be describe by one word – BRILLIANT.

And I am only left with 2 more episodes to watch, and I’m feeling sorry that the series would end already. I am not ashamed to admit that I cried too many times already watching this drama. Maybe at least 4-5 times per episodes since the drama started? [Not outright in the first episode, but more likely 1/3 through the series.]

This drama is moving, poignant, heartfelt and most importantly, engaging. It was never boring and I would recommend this drama to those who wanted something more than your usual glossy or melodramatic k-drama.

I knew I’m going to cry watching those last 2 episodes, but the drama will be worth my tears. ^^

Which one do you prefer?

Cute love story?

{for Samsung Anycall Bodyguard}

Retro-looking guys and girls?

{for Cyon LG Lollipop}

or Sexy divas?

{for KTF Ever X-Slim}

I picked Wonder Girls over anything. Be it the dashing T.O.P or cute Kim So Eun. 🙂 As well as their endorsed KTF X-Slim phone, it’s better looking. Than Anycall (I actually love most of Samsung phones, but what are they thinking when they design this one???)

Oh well, what about you? Which one do you prefer? (Even if you can’t see any glimpse of Cyon’s Lollipop in the MV)

Wedding Shot, but Hwang Bo is nowhere to be seen.

Instead we saw Go Hye Sun in her place. Haha~I’m seriously not trying to be funny, or sarcastic, but the chemistry wasn’t there. Or is it just me that both of them look stony, even Go Hye Sun?

True to my nature, I’m posting shillang and Buin’s 100 day photoshoot here as well… not that I’m saying there got more chemistry, well at least Hyun Joong looked better without the dark circles and smiles on place.

I was surfing through the internet, and saw this beautiful teasers. Anyone remembers ‘Stairway to Heaven’ and Seeya’s heartbreaking MVs?

The main actor, Baek Sung Hyun and actress, Choi Jung Won appeared in those respectively, and should I say, Choi Jung Won is a true beauty.And how Sung Hyun had grown up into a ‘macho’ man. 😀

Can’t wait for the digital movie to come out soon. Mark your calendar guys, March the 5th.

Anyone remember this? A ‘make-up’ scandal…

11 Feb

Turn round the clock, and it was 2nd May 2006, 9:58 p.m. Venue : Jung Min’s and Young Saeng’s Youngstreet Radio.

I must admit that I am too lazy to try to translate this article, but does anyone still remember how this surfaced in the internet? It was back then when Lee Hyori was promoting her second album, Dark Angel.

A New Twist of Boys Over Flowers

9 Feb

I haven’t yet watch the real drama, but this trailer is sure interesting as hell.

Everything was perfect, the scene selection, the music background, the hint-of-sephia effect. Bravo to the person who did this, I am almost sure I will definitely watch this ‘movie’ if there is certainly one. 🙂

The title was also perfect, Boys Over Flowers: Requiem.

5 out of 5. Brilliant!
